Michael W. Perry, Chair

Michael W. Perry is one of the most recognized and respected names in Hawaii broadcast history, having spent over a decade as Hawaii's number one afternoon radio personality and 25 years with KSSK Radio's Perry and Price Show, consistently Hawaii's #1 radio program, and one of the top 3 most dominant radio shows in America. Since 1980, Mr. Perry has also been the Executive Producer and Host of the award-winning "Hawaiian Moving Company." In addition to being a spokesman for several local companies, Mr. Perry has done countless national and international TV commercials (his acting credits include the 1998 movie "Molokai: The Father Damien Story," the "Princess Kaiulani" movie, TV performances on "One West Waikiki," "Jake and the Fatman," "Island Son," the mini-series "Blood and Orchids," and many more). Before coming to Hawaii nearly 40 years ago, Mr. Perry served as a Navy Lieutenant in the Pacific Submarine Force. He holds a B.S. degree in Psychology from Michigan State University, and, along with Chairing the Takitani Foundation, is Chairman of the Board of the REHAB Hospital Foundation and serves as a director of REHAB Hospital and Castle Medical Center. 

 

Hideo Kondo, President

Hideo Kondo is the former Vice-President of Sales for Hawaiian Host Chocolates. He was a close friend of Mamoru and Aiko Takitani, and is a trustee of the Aiko Takitani Trust. He has been a strong supporter of the Takitani Foundation’s mission since its inception.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Janice Luke Loo, Vice-Chair

Janice Luke Loo is a retired high school English teacher and a co-chair of the Takitani Foundation’s Scholarship Committee. A Stanford University School of Education graduate and a Klingenstein Fellow at Teacher’s College, Columbia University, Ms. Loo has a strong interest in promoting higher education. She currently serves on the boards of the Boys and Girls Club of Hawaii, the Wo International Center at Punahou School, REHAB Hospital, Care Resources Hawaii, is the Vice-Chair of the REHAB Hospital Foundation and a Commissioner with the Hawaii State Supreme Court Commission on Judicial Conduct.

 

Mildred S. Higashi, Secretary

Mildred S. Higashi, Ph.D., is a co-chair of the Takitani Foundation’s Scholarship Committee and a strong advocate for higher education. An educational consultant since retiring from the State Department of Education after more than thirty-five years of service, Dr. Higashi was a high school mathematics teacher for ten years after which she held various administrative positions in the state office, first as an evaluator, then as an administrator and director, and finally as an Acting Assistant Superintendent of the Office of Instructional Services with statewide responsibilities for curriculum and instruction in the public schools.

 

C. Scott Wo

C. Scott Wo, Ph.D. is an Owner / Executive of C. S. Wo & Sons. He is a 1983 graduate of Punahou School, and received his Bachelors of Science in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, his MBA in Finance, Accounting, and International Business from Columbia Business School, and his PhD in finance from UCLA. Dr. Wo’s many community affiliations include serving in executive and finance positions with the University of Hawaii Foundation Board of Trustees, the American Red Cross – Hawaii State Chapter, the Aloha United Way and the Pacific and Asian Affairs Council. Dr. Wo is a Director of First Hawaiian Bank, Director and Finance Committee Chair of the Queen’s Health System and has also served as a Director and President of Waialae Country Club.

 

Stuart Ho, Treasurer

Stuart Ho is a respected businessman and community leader in Hawaii. A former legislator, Mr. Ho was also the President of Capital Investment of Hawaii, Inc., and one of the founders of the Rehabilitation Hospital of the Pacific, serving as its President and CEO from 2002 until 2007. Mr. Ho is currently the President of AARP Hawaii and remains an active participant on the boards of numerous Hawaii and Mainland corporations and several charitable organizations in Hawaii.

 

 

Brett G. Schlemmer, Director

Brett Schlemmer is former Director of Operations of the Hawaii Foodbank and has worked with a number of non-profit programs serving the community. Mr. Schlemmer attended California State University, Fresno and has called Hawaii home since 1985.

 

 

 

 

 

Karen Uno, Director

Karen Uno, niece of Mamoru and Aiko Takitani, has been actively involved with Hawaiian Host Chocolates for many years and is a trustee of the Aiko Takitani Trust. Ms. Uno has served the Mamoru and Aiko Takitani Foundation in several capacities since its inception and is a firm supporter of making educational opportunities available to students.
